Description
Togo is a  francophone West African country neighboured by Benin, Burkina Faso and Ghana, is characterised by important migration outflows due to widespread poverty, poor economic conditions and political instability. By the time of the request submitted to MIEUX, there was no framework for migration management and very little reliable data available. Despite the size of the Togolese diaspora and the scope of remittances sent each year, Togo lacks a strategy and framework aimed at maximising the development impact of remittances.

In 2012, the Ministry in charge of Planning, Development and Territorial Management requested support from MIEUX to increase the development impact of migration in Togo. This Action, held in parallel of Togo I, contributed to improved capacities and capabilities of public authorities to develop a strategy and and Action plan to manage migration and development.
