Description
The Gambia suffers from various emigration and immigration pressures from Sub-Saharan Africa. Namely, Gambia’s sea access is used as an important route for south-north migration. By the time of the Action, irregular migration to Europe was a new and evolving phenomenon that some Gambian youth has witnessed, ending up in the hands of trafficking in human beings’ networks.
In this context, the Ministry of Interior and NGO Affairs requested support from MIEUX in 2010 to finalise and disseminate the 2009 National Migration and Urbanisation Survey.
The Action resulted in the training of officials from the main ministries and agencies dealing with migration data on data collection methods, as well as the compilation and analysis of the 2009 Migration and Urbanisation Survey.
