Description
Circular and temporary migration from Mali seem to prevail among outflows to West African countries including to Côte d’Ivoire, Gambia, Ghana and Senegal, where Malian migrants find employment opportunities. On the other hand, long-term emigration prevails in France, which is the main destination in Europe.

In this contect, the Ministry of Employment and Vocational Training (MEVT), reached out to MIEUX in an effort to improve and strengthen its National Employment Agency (ANPE) capacities in the area of labour migration. The technical assistance aimed at supporting the development of the necessary tools for better regional labour migration management and to support their offer towards the reintegration of returning Malians.

Under the leadership of the Department of Migration and Cooperation of the ANPE, an inter-ministerial working group was set-up and worked collaboratively with the MIEUX Experts in drafting the Handbook on Labour Migration, which clarified responsibilities and procedures with regard to labour migration in Mali. The project also presented an opportunity to facilitate exchange and cooperation with regional experts (Tunisia and Senegal) and with the French Office for Immigration and Integration (OFII).
